- Kapitel 42 -

(Matthew 12:15–21)

Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.(a)

He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.(c)

Thus saith God the Lord , he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

I am the Lord : that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

A New Song of Praise

(Psalm 98:1–9; Psalm 149:1–9)

Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.(d)

Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

Let them give glory unto the Lord , and declare his praise in the islands.

The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.(e)

I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.(f)

I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.(g)

They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

Israel Is Deaf and Blind

Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the Lord’s servant?

Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.

The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.(h)

But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.(i)

Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?(k)

Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the Lord , he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.

Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

Der Diener des HERRN

(Matthäus 12,15-21)

Siehe, mein Knecht, ich halte ihn aufrecht; mein Auserwählter, an ihm hat meine Seele Wohlgefallen; ich legte meinen Geist auf ihn, Recht wird er den Völkern bringen.

Er wird nicht lärmen noch Ansehen der Person kennen noch wird man draußen seine Stimme vernehmen.

Das geknickte Rohr zerbricht er nicht und den glimmenden Docht löscht er nicht aus, der Wahrheit gemäß bringt er das Recht.

Er wird nicht kleinmütig noch entmutigt, bis er auf Erden das recht gründet, und die Inseln harren auf sein Gesetz.

So spricht der Herr, Gott, der die Himmel schuf und sie ausspannte; der die Erde festigte und was auf ihr hervorsprosst; der dem Volke, das darauf ist, Lebenshauch gibt, und Odem denen, die auf ihr wandeln:

Ich, der Herr, habe dich gerufen in Gerechtigkeit, deine Hand erfasst und dich gerettet. Ich habe dich bestellt zum Bunde für das Volk, zum Lichte für die Heiden,

dass du die Augen der Blinden öffnest und die Gefangenen aus dem Verschlusse führest, aus dem Kerker die in Finsternis Sitzenden.

Ich, der Herr, das ist mein Name, meine Ehre gebe ich einem andern nicht noch meinen Ruhm den Götzenbildern.

Das Erste, siehe, es ist eingetroffen, Neues auch verkündige ich; ehe es noch entsteht, lasse ich es euch hören.

Lob des HERRN

(Psalm 98,1-9; Psalm 149,1-9)

Singt dem Herrn ein neues Lied, sein Lob von den Enden der Erde her; die ihr das Meer befahrt und dessen Fülle, ihr Inseln und deren Bewohner!

Es hüpfe die Wüste auf und ihre Städte, Kedar in seinen Wohnungen; lobsinget, ihr Bewohner der Felsenstadt, von dem Gipfel der Berge mögen sie jauchzen!

Dem Herrn gebe man die Ehre und verkünde sein Lob auf den Inseln!

Der Herr wird ausziehen wie ein Held, wie ein Krieger seinen Eifer anfachen; er wird Schlachtruf und Schlachtgeschrei erheben und sich über seine Feinde mächtig erweisen.

Verheißung der Hilfe des HERRN

Geschwiegen habe ich seither, war still und gelassen; nun aber will ich laut schreien wie eine Gebärende, will zerstreuen und vernichten zumal.

Verödet mache ich Berge und Hügel und all ihr Gras lasse ich verdorren, Ströme wandle ich zu Inseln und Seen trockne ich aus.

Und ich führe die Blinden auf einen Weg, den sie nicht kennen, und auf Pfaden, die ihnen unbekannt sind, lasse ich sie einherwandeln; ich wandle die Finsternis vor ihnen in Licht und das Holprige in Ebenes. Diese Taten vollbringe ich für sie und verlasse sie nicht.

Es weichen zurück, beschämt werden mögen mit Schanden, die auf ein Schnitzbild vertrauen, die zu dem gegossenen Bilde sagen: Ihr seid unsere Götter!

Ihr Tauben, höret, ihr Blinden, blicket auf, zu sehen!

Wer ist blind, wenn nicht mein Knecht? und taub, wenn nicht der, an den ich meine Boten sandte? Wer ist blind, wenn nicht der verkaufte? Und wer blind, wenn nicht der Knecht des Herrn?

Der du vieles siehest, wirst du es nicht behalten? Der du offene Ohren hast, wirst du nicht hören?

Israels hartnäckiger Ungehorsam

Und dem Herrn gefiel es, ihn zu heiligen und das Gesetz groß und herrlich zu machen.

Das Volk selbst aber ist beraubt und geplündert, alle ihre Jünglinge liegen in Fesseln, in Kerker sind sie eingeschlossen, sind zum Raube geworden und es ist kein Retter da; zur Plünderung und ist niemand da, der sage: Gib heraus!

Wer unter euch hört darauf, merkt und gibt acht auf das, was kommt?

Wer hat Jakob der Plünderung hingegeben und Israel den Verwüstern? Nicht der Herr selbst, gegen den wir gesündigt? Sie wollten nicht wandeln auf seinen Wegen, nicht auf sein Gesetz hören.

So ergoss er über dasselbe den Grimm seines Zornes und gewaltigen Krieg und dieser versengte es ringsum, aber es kam nicht zur Einsicht; er steckte es in Brand, aber es kam nicht zum Verständnisse.
