God's New Revelations

The Revelation of St. John the Divine

Literal Standard Version :: World English Bible Catholic

- Chapter 6 -

1
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as it were a voice of thunder, “Come and behold!”
2
And I saw, and behold, a white horse, and he who is sitting on it is having a bow, and there was given to him a garland, and he went forth overcoming, and that he may overcome.

The Second Seal: War

3
And when He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and behold!”
4
And there went forth another horse—fire-colored, and to him who is sitting on it, there was given to him to take peace from the earth, and that they may slay one another, and there was given to him a great sword.

The Third Seal: Famine

5
And when He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and behold!” And I saw, and behold, a black horse, and he who is sitting on it is having a balance in his hand,
6
and I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A measure of wheat for a denarius, and three measures of barley for a denarius, and you may not injure the oil and the wine.”

The Fourth Seal: Death

7
And when He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and behold!”
8
And I saw, and behold, a pale horse, and he who is sitting on himhis name is Death, and Hades follows with him, and there was given to them authority to kill over the fourth part of the earth with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and by the beasts of the earth.

The Fifth Seal: The Martyrs

9
And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony that they held,
10
and they were crying with a great voice, saying, “Until when, O Master, the Holy and the True, do You not judge and take vengeance of our blood from those dwelling on the earth?”
11
And there was given to each one a white robe, and it was said to them that they may rest themselves yet a short time, until may also be fulfilled their fellow-servants and their brothers, who are about to be killed—even as they.

The Sixth Seal: Terror

12
And I saw when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, a great earthquake came, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood,
13
and the stars of Heaven fell to the earthas a fig tree casts her unripe figs, being shaken by a great wind—
14
and the sky departed as a scroll rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places;
15
and the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich, and the chiefs of thousands, and the mighty, and every servant, and every freeman, hid themselves in the dens, and in the rocks of the mountains,
16
and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him who is sitting on the throne, and from the anger of the Lamb,”
17
because the great day of His anger has come, and who is able to stand?
1
I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, “Come and see!”
2
Then a white horse appeared, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.

The Second Seal: War

3
When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”
4
Another came out, a red horse. To him who sat on it was given power to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. There was given to him a great sword.

The Third Seal: Famine

5
When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand.
6
I heard a voice in the middle of the four living creatures saying, “A choenix(a) of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don’t damage the oil and the wine!”

The Fourth Seal: Death

7
When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see!”
8
And behold, a pale horse, and the name of he who sat on it was Death. Hades(b) followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him.

The Fifth Seal: The Martyrs

9
When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.
10
They cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
11
A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a while, until their fellow servants and their brothers,(c) who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.

The Sixth Seal: Terror

12
I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became as blood.
13
The stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when it is shaken by a great wind.
14
The sky was removed like a scroll when it is rolled up. Every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
15
The kings of the earth, the princes, the commanding officers, the rich, the strong, and every slave and free person, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.
16
They told the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,
17
for the great day of his wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
